Founded in 2007 by Henry Sutton and Jonathan Myerson, The Writers’ Practice began as a literary consultancy: a small team of published writers, editors and screenwriters (who also happen to be experienced creative writing teachers) with considerable marketplace knowledge. Henry Sutton has published seven novels. He currently teaches MA Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. Jonathan Myerson runs the Creative Writing MA at City University London, as well as masterclasses at the National Film and Television School. He has written more than thirty original plays for radio and is the author of two novels.

Jemima Hunt, also a novelist and creative writing tutor, joined as the Practice’s agent in 2011 to expand our service and reach. We are located in London and Norwich.

Today The Writers’ Practice offers two distinct and separate services. The literary consultancy continues to give highly focused manuscript advice to emerging authors. All projects are undertaken by our named associates (See consultancy). As professional writers, we understand the need for careful mentoring and astute commercial advice. As editors, agents and creative writing teachers, we know how to get material into shape, out there and recognised. Because our team is small, we take pride in working with our authors on each stage of their book development. We are experts on commercial and literary fiction, narrative non-fiction, autobiography and young adult fiction, plus screen, TV and radio drama.

The agency, headed by Jemima Hunt, offers author representation independently of the consultancy. Foreign rights, as well as TV and Film rights, are handled by our specialist co-agents.

Our aim, in this fast moving digital world, is to give our authors the very best platform from which to develop their careers.
